9 Wedding Makeup Mistakes to Avoid According to a Pro Makeup Artist | Beauty with Susan Yara
Apparently 2022 is the year of weddings. The industry estimates that 2.5 million weddings are planned for this year – that’s the most since 1984! With that in mind, I brought in makeup artist @Makeupbynikkilarose to discuss wedding and bridal makeup mistakes you should avoid on your big day….

I’m gonna be doing my own makeup. I wear minimal makeup now but 10 years ago I wore full blown glam to full on cosplay a lot, so I feel like I can probably do my own 😂
This video is very reassuring 😃😃
Hello , how much should be trial makeup? (Approximately)
😫😭 that was me, I regret the heavy lashes I wore on my wedding day. I’m kind of mad at my wedding makeup artist as she didn’t say anything, didn’t cut them, didn’t give me any advisement so now in all my photos you can’t see the whites of my eyes. 😢 Don’t do it girls!
Ahhh the mascara is the only thing I cannot figure out. I have monoid and really heavy eyes(like the eye lid skin is heavy and puffy). I can not wear waterproof without it smudging. The only mascara I wear is tubing ones but those will come right off if I cry. And I AM A CRYER. 😂😂😂😂😂
I’m considering getting lash lift and have semi permanent lashes done and go without mascara and pray for the best lol
Agreed with all!
I agree w the cutting of lash strips because although my MUA (he taught for Charlotte Tilbury and he’s now a face designer for Giorgio Armani) did a phenomenal job, the strip did come loose on one eye after an emotional ceremony and thank GOD my friend had lash glue and eyeliner on her, otherwise I was gonna be bothered all day! I look better with a smokey eye so I went that route, but I didn’t use any crazy colors so it ended up looking very natural on me in photos. I also wish I had not switched to a red lip when I changed into my Chinese wedding dress because I have big lips and in the photos all you see are my lips! Also, highly recommend bringing your foundation shade in a compact form because I was sweating so much under the sun during the dragon dance performance my foundation started melting in the center of my face. No matter how long wearing the product says it is, nature will always win!
Also my tip: find someone who has a genuine passion for makeup and gets excited just talking about it. I did a post-wedding photo shoot with the same products but with w a makeup person at the mall who I didn’t know and the person didn’t say a word to me and the end result was so terrible I didn’t end up using most of the photos.
“It’s still good to have a professional makeup artist” says the person whose hands are SEVERAL shades lighter than her face girl come on
Does anyone else think that Nikki looks like the spit of Millie Bobbie brown?
Basically, just wake up and go to marry on your pajama 🤣 so real you !!! 😍
"Make sure you blend your makeup down your neck so you don't have that crazy line" makeup artist has crazy line at decolletage instead
Thank you for the tips! Will be useful on my graduation day in December!
Fantastic video. Thanks so much for the tips guys
great video. Useful info 👍🏻
This was soo helpful !! 😊
😍😍🙏
The best advice I can give anyone about their wedding is treat it like a party, don’t get so hung up about it because your wedding has zero impact on your marriage positively long term. It’s just one day in a hopefully long life. We did things exactly how we wanted not what was expected, I wore colour because I would’ve hated white, we had no bridal party and just let everyone be a guest, we didn’t go into debt at all with it, we kept the guests to exactly our close family and friends no random new partners we didn’t know or cousins we hadn’t seen in ten years. Remember it’s just one day.
What happened in 1984?? Lol
I personally love all of you on your wedding day! I think your hair, makeup, accessories and dress were beautiful 😍 my wedding is this summer and I appreciate these tips, although I disagree with some of them. I don't think you should have your hair and makeup as you usually do, unless you really want to. The way I see it is that that's my special day, I don't want to look exactly the way I look every day. Obviously, we don't wear flowers in the hair on a normal day, but why not have an accessory in your hair for a special occasion?! I also don't get the advice of wearing your hair down, if you do that normally. Again, that's not a normal day, that's your special day, a lot of women want to look a bit different. Also it really depends on the climate. My wedding is in August, I would definitely avoid having my hair down in that kind of heat.
Use a tubing mascara if you have oily lids (love a Texan who got married outside) 💙
My wedding look was completely me. I only did a little white and mostly navy blue with natural makeup and a vintage veil. It was peak, baby. 😎
I'm getting married in 33 days!! Doing my own make up! Thank you guys!! ❤️
Not going to lie I’ve looked at the wedding makeup look video more than 10 times. Because I will be doing my own wedding makeup.
Loooove the videos with Nikki😍
