Invitations 6 months before??? Maybe if it's a destination but other than that no way….
After getting engaged i would actually do budget, guest list and then venue. Because you want to make sure that you don't get a venue that doesn't fit your budget and can also accommodate the # of guests you want.

Great advice! Another great tip is to make sure you can get as much as you want within your budget, meaning don’t let your family or friends push you around and change your opinion on something you have been saving/dreaming about for your special day! Don’t be a pushover
