There are some little plastic thingies (sorry don't know what they're actually called) that cover your stiletto heel so it won't sink in to the grass! I've used them before & they worked fine!

After seeing prices of venues I looked for alternatives. I found a cheap room to have our reception in but they don't allow drop catering unless it's by caterers on their list. I am now considering just having the wedding at a local park and just rent a preexisting covered area with picnic tables. And just buy pizzas for everyone and soft drinks. That way we can just enjoy the day more and not worry as much about the set up and tear down.

My best friend got married in July by a pond and the whole bridal party was getting stung by bees the entire time. We were trying to stand still and not swat them away because of the pictures but that was rough

My ceremony will be outside on the water May 2023. But plan B is indoors at the reception since everything is in the same location

This woman expected a band to play in the rain?? It’s not their big day, and those aren’t one-day instruments like your damned dress

Our grand-niece just held her wedding in our pasture & backyard this past weekend. We did have rain and we did get wet. We would like tips for how to keep guests out of the house if that's not part of the venue arrangement. Also, there are a lot of areas dealing with forest fires and smoke can be a real problem for outdoor events of any kind – what do you recommend?

Bathrooms! I have been to an outdoor wedding where there were problems with the bathrooms and people had to go in the woods. If what is available are only outhouses maybe look into renting a handwashing station. At that wedding there was really bad wind and the tents could not stay up and everything, including the table clothes, did not want to stay on the tables. Many of the decorations did not want to stay where we put them.

There is a high chance that an outdoor wedding will not go as you planned as there are too many variables that are not controllable. If you are a control freak then you may want to skip an outdoor wedding. Oh, if you are doing most of the stuff yourself make sure that you have people signed up to help you set up long before the wedding so that you are not trying to do it yourself or suddenly freaking out and ordering around your family just before the wedding starts. If you want something set up a certain way video a mock up of how you want it set up and send it to the people who are helping you set up so they will know and/or have a diagram of how you want things done.

How’s the weather in Durango, CO in July? You mentioned Colorado but I’ve never been in July. Is it likely that it will rain or not at all?
