Imagine how this huge sum of money could be used to improve the lives of many hardcore poor in India living in the nearby slum. By doing so, the rich family will get good karma in return.

A wedding is not a marriage. It does not define your marriage. I personally would not feel comfortable spending that much money & would rather save that money for a house or a trip.

Americans start saving for child's education from the day they are born. 😂 Good joke!

Average American has 100k student loan debt.

Average income of indian household in US -> 120K.
And people who went from India directly for job in US earns even more.
In my own college from NSIT delhi every year some people went for about 1.5cr in usa that more than 200K for one person.

Indian weddings are done to showoff from parents to other relatives about their wealth, Middle class people take huge loans from lenders and do marriages, all you get is more debt and in the end, daughters family has to give huge dowry also. Marriages are less about boy and girl more about showcasing family wealth.

It's absolutely wrong….as the the person who can afford a wedding of about $40k he can surely educat hi/her child the best way possible….n as a matter of fact an average indian wedding starts at about $15-$20k …..n the most expensive wedding in india went off for about $100m

None of my Indian friends spent that much on weddings although they could very well afford. Real nosy families she is talking about I guess.

🤦🏽‍♂️ most Indian wedding are big because of society pressure… let me tell you my story:

The girl that I love broke our engagement because we argued about the wedding. Her family wanted to invite 500 people plus 200 people from my side, a total of 700 people. The wedding would have costed $200k. Since she told me that all expenses will be split 50/50 .. I refused to have a wedding that big and wanted both sides to cut down on people and expense. I explained my reasoning of how we can use the saved money for our future and to pay off her $250,000 student loans. She and her parents couldn’t understand and claimed “ we have invited all these people because it will look bad in the society if we don’t and we can only invite all them to our daughter wedding”. I said, “can’t spend that much because I don’t have the budget to”… they didn’t like how I was refusing and parents step in and broke the relationship. In our last conversation, she told me that the $12,000 engagement ring that I gave her wasn’t good enough and that she wanted a Tiffany ring…. to all the couples that are still together and are going through a hard time because of materialistic things and wedding please don’t let it break you guys. Love is priceless and you don’t need to spend thousands of dollars to validate your love for each other. The true meaning of love and marriage is lacking in today’s world and that’s the reason we are seeing a lot of divorces. Don’t take this the wrong way but two couple need to understand each other and not influenced by parents and society.. it’s not the parents or the societies wedding and they shouldn’t influence how big your wedding should be. Best wish to everyone and let LOVE win in the end.

To be frank, education in India is way cheaper than that in the states. There's a lot of Govt. Colleges and Schools and scholarship opportunities for students belonging to poor families. As an example, the semester fees of my college for unreserved candidates is about 140 USD (INR 10000).

Why do the American kids have college debt if their parents are saving up for their education? On the contrary, Indian parents save for both education and marriage.

What if I told you that I could convince you that somebody
you know very well is a crook? You’d proberbly say no way. On the other hand,
what if I told you that I could convince you that somebody you don’t know at
all is a crook? Then your answer would proberbly be maybe, but not very likely.
Ok, in view of all the above information I’ve just given you, you must now
realize that dye head politicians and journalists are just wasting their time
by trying to win you over by dying their hair, right? And all those streaking
blond dye head women performing in television commercials with red clownish
greasy lips, are doing so just for the fun of play acting, appearing as someone
that is not really themselves, right? has nothing to do with persuasion or convincing,
or the marketing of a product on television urging you to buy for that
matter…are not connected in any shape or form…are you having any fun yet? or
are you just waiting to be further convinced?
