One word: elope.
We did the photos of us idea for decorations! Tiny clothespins, printed photos and a lace background. Looked gorgeous, and cost very little. Also, don't be afraid of finding decorations at the Dollar Store and Dollar General. They'll still look nice!

Loved this! I liked the substitutions and ideas you mentioned. For example, instead of a wedding cake (expensive) you can get a still really nice cake or even Cupcakes! from Sams club/costco and diy a lot of your decor!
