Oh my, the photographers at a wedding I attended didn’t even do a family photo of the couple with their kids and a photo of the bride with each bridesmaid, groom with each groomsmen, a photo like the one at 8:42 . I gotta say, not once did I hear them say a word. There was a huge area of just grass where they could have placed each pair, scattered around with the bride and groom in the middle, but no, nothing creative at all. The photos of the bride ALL took place under the small gazebo where they stood for the ceremony. And to make it worse, there was a chair behind her that should have been moved out of the way. At least two of the Groomsmen wore sunglasses the WHOLE time. My sister was part of the bridal party and she didn’t get to have a photo taken with the bride. I have never seen duo photographers not know what to do. When the sun fully came out, the lady used flash. I don’t think they were using full frame cameras bc they squeezed everyone in on every pose. As a photographer myself, I didn’t say a word. I didn’t want to offend the photographers. But there were too many missed opportunities to get better poses and different shots. I’m not certain how the couple will feel when they see their photos bc the fabric hanging in the gazebo was also touching the bride’s head (she’s tall). Hopefully a few could be photoshopped, but they’ll regret not taking a family photo for sure.

I've been through a dozen weddings, but always found family formals quite stressful. Great advice and tips even for not-rookie shooters. Very helpful! Thank you, Katelyn!

Do you include a videographer in your day for the couple or do they hire any videographer they want?

Are you using flash if any sort? Or are you just utilizing ambient light? I’m not seeing flash. Ty ty

I do literally the EXACT same thing as you – and I've never watched your real weddings. How the heck did we get the same EXACT wedding party workflow?! "traditional, boy/girl/boy/girl, walking, sitting" is my go to for whole group.

"flowers belly button level – pubes not boobs" (Ugh, I hate these hahahaah but I will say them depending on the crowd!)

what if one of the bridesmaids and grooms men are couples (or husbands and wives) and want to stand with each other in the mixed photo?

Am I the only one who loves this part because we’re having fun together? It’s not stressful to me at all.
