Storytime. I made all the favors for my cousin's wedding of about 150 people. Her reception did not have a seating chart. Some uninvited guests showed up. A few of the guests invited people who were not invited to the wedding. The meal was a buffet. Because I was so busy handing out the favors, I got my food last. Going through the line, a lot of the food was gone and I ended up standing in a corner to eat. It sucked. This is why you need both escort cards and a day-of coordinator to kick out the uninvited guests.

Since I am not likely getting married (boys are stupid) I can give up this idea that I have that I would use at my Christmas time wedding: as a gift, ask guests to bring a small Christmas tree ornament that would be placed on your Christmas tree at home when you are starting your married life. Your wedding guests will be remembered by the ornaments they give: ask them to bring one that makes them think of a memory they have of you/your spouse (and write their name in a hidden spot if possible, in case you can't guess who gave it to you!) or something that speaks to the bond that you share with them. When they bring the ornament to the reception, they should find their own name and table number on a piece of paper hanging on a Christmas tree that is in the hall/entrance. They hang the ornament on the tree and then go to their assigned table. Maybe they get to choose where they sit at the table instead of you having to prepare two pieces of paper with their names on it.
It makes for a nice, meaningful Christmas tree instead of just standard store-bought balls that have no personal significance to you. And hopefully your guests don't get you really ugly ornaments but…if they do, it makes for a more interesting Christmas tree! (and you only have it up for a month or so anyway compared to having to display an ugly vase in your house all the time!)
Love this! I thought about skipping this all together. But after watching this, I've reconsidered. I am thinking maybe incorporating peaches into the table assignments.
