Before I was diagnosed as coeliac I was on a junk food addiction binge that lasted years and I couldn’t stop eating the junk , even though it made me violently ill. Once I was diagnosed, I went cold turkey off the junk & im much happier so that’s my GOOD thing about coeliac thing

I do get the bloodwork done. I was diagnosed with Celiac in January, and after some research I saw that I was supposed to get bloodwork every year to check antibody levels. So I talked to my primary doc about it, who is really awesome and even though she didn’t know I was supposed to have any follow-up she looked it up herself and immediately agreed. So I’m having vitamin levels and antibody levels checked every 3 months for my first year, then yearly after that. At least here in the US, most doctors don’t seem very known about Celiac Disease except to say “just go gluten-free,” but I’m grateful that my primary doctor listened and did her own research instead of just dismissing the idea of follow up care.

My favorite positive is that it is a no-brainer to stay away from fast food. Sure, I get wistful about it from time to time, but that stuff is actually really nasty, and it's easy for me to just say no!

So sorry you got glutened. You really looked miserable in that one photo, and although you are not all better, you sure look better. I hope you feel all better very soon.

I get sores inside my mouth often, gluten or not, but they feel like hot cheese pizza burns. I also get huge penny sized blood blisters and clear filled blisters that all come out of nowhere. They were worse when I was still eating gluten (I've been GF for about 7 yrs.).

I am in my 60's and one thing I wish I had been tested for when young, was bone density. Because I was not diagnosed until I was 55, I now have necrotic (dead) bones. There are treatments to keep bones from getting worse, so please, get your bones checked while you are young and encourage your followers to do the same. There are treatments to stop bone death.

A topic I'd think would be fun would be to hear other people's stories about dreams they've had about eating gluten. Do you have dreams where you eat gluten? I have them often.

Get better soon!

so sorry you got so sick! your symptoms sound exactly like what happens to me when I get glutened (or eat lobster or scallops), so no matter what caused your sickness just know I feel for ya! and lol I didn't notice the cold sore at all. thanks for sparing some of your energy for us, feel better soon!
