Alcohol Moderation: How To Stop Drinking So Much

Given the nature of addiction, it is clear that moderation is not a realistic option for most people with AUD. The best course of action for recovery is abstinence, which means avoiding alcohol altogether.

I mean really you seem like a decent person but to constantly remind us that you live in cypress. With evil clown or not. Is a bit egotistic.

I agree with your assessment on alcohol. It is dangerous. But I can't wrap my mind around the fact that people want to produce enormous amount of money from people addiction..

Hey Craig, I wrote this letter, thanks for answer. The fact is, the friend that only drinks on vacation is my best friend, I believe him…he is very successfull lawyer and have about 7 vacations a year, he started not to drink and eat well after liver problems, but now managed to drink on that 7 vacations… I asked him about the Kick and he has it but he says he has it and beats it with fittness… Yes it might be tortorous, but he is not lying… And YES I know its poison but the fact is, I loved that euphoric feeling so much… Is something wrong with me considerkng this? Write me comments thanks

I can't believe I was so stupid to drink being : in a West society with opportunities, on an age I could achieve everything with goals, hard work and discipline. On healthy body.
There are some months I quit drinking…can't even remember when..I m ashamed even to count date or time on something so indescribably stupid I used to do.
I m just so happy with the solitary fact that the drug does not exist in my life.
It's really enough for me the fact alone that only in memory is something called alcohol….
Being out of HELL some times equals being in paradise….

Some people can drink in moderation but when your a problem drinker you can’t. It’s that simple I’ve seen friends have 2 beers and stop but I could never do that because I was a problem drinker and could not stop until I was drunk.

You wouldn't have a drinking problem if you could drink in moderation. Think about it.

Hello @StopDrinkingExpert I know your videos are aimed at heavy drinkers in there mid 40s/50s but I'm in my 20s and have been drinking for about 10 years almost daily would I still be able to do the course ? I'm desperate to stop once and for all as it is causing me major problems, I know my channel name on YouTube is daft but I'm being deadly serious. Cheers

I want to thank you for your videos. I have not read your book or taken the class. However on 4-10-23 I woke up the day after Easter and finally said I am done drinking for good. Next week will be six months zero alcohol after 21 years of nearly daily drinking. I realized it was becoming a problem on my own and that day I started looking up quitting drinking videos. I have watched every video since that day and the knowledge and motivation I've gained from them is incredible. Roughly 4 months is when I reached the point I really do not think about drinking at all, and overall not even keeping track anymore. A weeklong family vacation in July was a huge challenge. Being on the water, boating everyday, and not drinking was a test. However, I did it even with everyone else drinking throughout every day. I also started taking Omega 3 fish oil. What you do does make a difference for those who want to change……Added note. I'm almost 43 years old. We visited our Son a month ago when he turned 21 and I sat in a bar with him and my wife, and then was the designated driver. I don't preach to anyone about how bad drinking is because I know it's useless. But inside the last thing I wanted to be doing was watching my Son drink on his 21st birthday. You're channel should be 100x larger than it is but unfortunately this drug is accepted and the dangers will not be taught.

50 yrs old. First buzz at age 11. Evolving problem drinker for 40 years. It's gotten worse and worse over the years but I've become a master of deceit and disguise. I appear to be in excellent shape for my age and I'm told I look 30. With such a high tolerance I have always been able to appear sober or less drunk than I actually am. In recent years that task has become more difficult. On several occasions I've found myself blubbering and almost cataconic. Drinking throughout the day and trying to party with friends during the evening, only to end up drunk and barely able to hold it together enough stumble to the bed and pass out. I've pissed the bed several times and I've been caught drunk during the day and embarrassed myself and my close friends and family.
I've stopped drinking for 2 or 3 months at the time but have always had the little clown whispering in my head that I would return to drinking in moderation. Craig, I've been watching your YouTube videos for at least 3 years and have found them to be instrumental in helping me to stop drinking for a month or 2. But it wasn't until 3 weeks ago when I read "Acohol Lied to Me" that everything lined up perfectly in my head. The psychology you use to understand alcohol in our society and the struggles of the problem drinker is masterful! I will forever be grateful. My perspective is different than it has been the other times I have attempted to stop drinking. I finally know that I will never drink again and your book helped me to reach that point! Thank you!

Imagine if a person was dating someone and they tried to kill them in their sleep. Then once they had recovered they still wanted to see them, but only once or twice a year. Crazy!

Got to get it through to the subconscious mind. Alcohol is a poisonous, addiction.
Do we look forward to a little glue sniffing on vacation? Get the poison out, keep it out. 🤗

My constant relapses were because of the myth of moderation. Maybe there is a way back from beyond the event horizon but it would probably take longer than a lifetime to achieve, so it's not worth trying.

"I only drink on vacation"….I know some people that say they have a few drinks, but it's not really DRINKING. Ummm yes it is. Also what does vacation mean? I have "vacation days" at work, so I could be at home, but on vacation.

Stupid clown: "Don't be one of those weird guys who never drinks and has an established sobriety date" "Binge drinking is defined as 5 or more drinks for a man on one occasion, so I'll just have 4.9 drinks and then pause drinking for an hour and then drink the other 4.9 drinks past that hour and past midnight…so that's not binge drinking" "The US Govt says no more than 14 drinks in a week for a man, I am going to look at drinking recommendations for other countries to find more generous numbers" "How long have the guidelines been in effect, maybe the 1960's drinking guidelines might say I can drink a bit more" "If I do a low carb keto diet, that will make it so that I can drink less to get more buzz and therefore I can enjoy drinking less alcohol (doesn't work–it will worsen hangovers and make you dumber when drunk and you'll be reaching for carbs during hangover)" "I am going to quit drinking later so it's all good"

It's just the evil clown popping up convincing you that drinking on a vacation is ok or possible. It's a harmful substance so what is the point even if it was possible to drink again occasionally
