Question regarding having more savings-
We just got engaged and I have way more saving that I feel is โour moneyโ because I was saving to spend it for OUR future.. like wedding, kids, house/apartment. But he feels like itโs just my money and doesnโt feel comfortable with me paying for majority things.. weโve been together for 7 years and engaged just recently. We both are masculine but I can be very submissive around him when I let myself.. how can I have money talk with him, so then heโs more comfortable with the idea I have more saving but I want to use it for OUR relationship.

Me and my ex always fought about money and I eventually just broke up with him. He was always broke while I am quite well off and earned way more than him, so there was a strong power imbalance where I was used to a luxury lifestyle while he was more of a budget person. I found this harder as a women being financially better and also more educated, as men seem to have this ego where they want to look after their girlfriend but get annoyed when they canโt do it as they would have liked

Hope you won't mind my making this observation I just think if I made more than he did and we were in the dating phase I would just stay quiet about it. I would observe where he's at financially. Then meet where he's financially comfortable.
I think I would not have invited him somewhere that was out of his financial comfort zone. So might I recommend instead meet where IF he felt the need to pay the bill he could. Without straining his budget. Later, or better yet before going somewhere posh, discuss with him FIRST how it would make him feel. You know hypothetically. I. E. "So what's your take on a woman who makes more than you? Would you be uncomfortable with her paying?" Or perhaps something like "Would it make you feel upstaged by going somewhere that might strain your budget?" I felt like you were put on the spot and that made me cringe. Just a thought.
Oh you should make a video on a virtual date in the same way…what to talk, the awkward stuff on a video call. I can be the virtual date on skype or whatever! ๐๐ Pick me!!
The last dumb gift I got from my ex was a men's puma tshirt in a horrible shade of blue in the wrong size๐. I returned it straight away and asked him to wear it himself. He also gave me a partly used bottle of Jack Daniels on my birthday a few years ago.
I'm single and buy whatever the fuck I want for myself now. ๐ Some people are just terrible at giving gifts. I explained this to him politely and told him not to waste money on me.
What do you do if he is ok taking you to expensive places, you can't afford, as a gift – so he says.. then somewhere down the track, months later, he makes a comment that you "owe him", since he's taking you to all these nice places – it's now your shout… even though he knows you can't afford it?
Its wasnt insanely expensive but I did have a man buy me something this Christmas that was almost 200 bucks and it was something Id absolutely never want to use. He got me other things that were plenty as far a gift. I thought it would be better if I just told him he should take it back and get his money than for me to keep it and not use it so money wasted or for me to have to make a show of using something I didnt want. He was pretty offended but I still think I was right. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
