Better tip, just ask them ahead of time what song they want to be introduced with as a new couple. If they don't have a choice, at least ask for an energy level, genre, how long they want the song to go etc. Still great point about knowing the song before it plays. For all the crucial songs in a wedding (first dance, parent dances, money dance, garter toss/bouquet toss etc) it pays MASSIVE dividends to listen to the song completely through and find where a good cue point is set. Botching the timing is a fate worse than death at a wedding, seriously.

Whats the difference between being a selector and dj.. My interest is more on practicing to become a music selector/tress for weddings.

I always say you're not a dj till u do weddings… i used to be scared of the microphon,. Still do, but not as much

I like the idea of the instrumental track and I suggest that to couples…noooooo they want the original song….”please no remixes”…so I get louder over the vocals during introduction…then I get yelled at for that as I keep smiling while they’re angry😂😂😂🙄

That’s called hitting the Post. The song should have intro time calculated to know your talk time.

Back in 1988 when I started doing weddings there was no Youtube. I had to learn from watching other DJ's live in person or messing it up and learning from my mistakes. Be grateful you have these helpful videos to learn from.

Great tip! Thank you. I've been a pro Wedding DJ for about 20 years now and the way I've always done an introduction for the Bride and Groom is to: bring the volume all the way down from the Bridal Party intro, while there is silence, I ask everyone to stand, then I make my announcement; right after I say the B&G's name, I start their introduction song (usually much louder in volume than the Bridal Party intro song).

Your tip gives me something to think about because I am always trying to be better; always trying to improve. I like your tip and may end up trying it at my next event. Thanks again.

Nice tip brutha. Newly mobile DJ. I got into it because of love of music, plus many of my friends say that I have a voice that should be on the radio (or at least behind the mic). For all those who are well advance, kuddos. But for a beginner like me, this is well appreciated info. Thank you much.
