I'd really love if you could do a short about wedding favors: What should you have? How to make them budget friendly? Should you match them with your overall theme? Good tips and rules of thumb to keep in mind, etc.

Recruit family to help, you don't need to do all of it yourself. Don't go cheap on photographers!

I did my wedding nearly 20 years ago for around $500. I was working at a craft store at the time so I got a 20% employee discount on top of sales. My wedding was in October so I waited until all the fall florals were on sale for half off and I bought a TON at a 70% discount. The garlands and flowers made up the backbone of my decorating. My sister's best friend was working for a florist and she got my bouquet, and the flowers for our wedding party and to decorate the cakes for a steal. My mom had a huge bolt of dark brown fabric that she had been saving which made an excellent aisle runner and instead of rose petals the flower girl dropped fall leaves and flowers (basically all the leftover bits of the florals I bought). I got an inexpensive dress for around $100 and my mom tailored it for free and my bridesmaids did the non-matching trend WAY early. Basically I just gave them a color scheme and let them buy what they wanted. We lucked out with the venue as my mom's church was free that weekend and they let us have the wedding there for free so long as we cleaned up after. I didn't do a full meal, to save on cash we instead just did hors d'oeuvres and cake for the reception. It did not cost much at all and looked MUCH more expensive then it was. It came out so well that when my best friend and maid of honor got married a few years later, also on a tight budget, she asked me to help her plan.

My favorite cheap/free wedding decor thing that made a BIG impact was live greenery. Now, This might be a Midwest-exclusive thing, but a lot of properties around here have tree rows along the back, so we grabbed a friends pickup truck, and the day before the wedding we went to a few friends and families houses and snipped branches off of trees and bushes. We had loaded up the bed of the pickup after 3 stops. Laid it in the center of our tables, wired it to beams, and added it to vases. It was 90% of our decor and didn't cost a cent. Just beware: there will be lots of sticky sap!

Also think of ways to simplify or cheapify diy projects. That first one she showed. Don’t use metal pipe. Use pvc and spray paint. Print out your own name tags on card stock and cut them out. You can fit a bunch onto one sheet. The wood letters, can you find another option? Diy it on cartsock and paint a wood color?
Just because your diy-ing does not mean it has to be exact
