I've been using YNAB for years and absolutely love it (and all the recent improvements)
You should reconsider using credit cards. You definitely seem cost conscious enough that you wouldn't go hog wild on a spending spree and max out a card. You can pay it off every month to incur no interest all while getting cash back and other perks to spend money that you would have spent anyway. Plus if you have a fraudulent charge on a credit card you can simply dispute it without being out the money whereas on a debit card the fraudulent charges actually took money from your bank account.

Wow this is really interesting! I'm just curious… you mentioned losing your down payment on your house and paying a loan back for that but I was looking for a mortgage category and didn't see one?
This is so interesting to see! I would love to see a mid month update to see what it looks like when youβre spending and paying bills versus when your categories are all full. Trying to think about what this could look like for me since I get paid 2-5 times per month depending
