As a client my wedding photographer did edit pricing due to the fact that she had engagement photos within her packages and we had one the free engagement photo session from another photographer at a bridal event. So she's willing to work with us and discount it just to take that out. Because her other packages were different and didn't have everything we wanted. So we had to go with that package and she understood.

Oh my Gosh, this is so good! I literally launched a podcast last week because I couldn't find anyone addressing these specific issues and properly educating the wedding market. After I recovered from the wind escaping my sails, I had to congratulate you! There's so much bad information and misinformation being digested by couples in the planning phase. Thank you for offering quality content to bring things back around. I wish you all the best!! Keep it up ❤

Parents – yep! I have done meetings with clients and their parents but I make it clear that the couple is signing the contract and that my agreement and planning is with the couple, even if the parent's card is the one on file.

This is absolutely eye opening. It doesn't work this way in the Midwest. At least not in the KC area.

Haggling is normal in my area. (And maybe it's my range as well. $3k-5k)

Also. If a client can't pay on a wedding day I still shoot the day. But I let them know I will not start editing and they will not get any images until all payments have been paid, and I let them know I am only keeping their photos for a year.

Now. If they start the conversation asking for discounts… Nope. But if they know my starting price and they really want a better package and they ask if they could remove this piece of a package for a discount? Yeah. I will absolutely consider that if they really don't want, like, the bridal session, etc.
