Once again, I absolutely appreciate the valuable information that you provide…
I absolutely agree with you when it comes to a hand written thank you note/card to someone who extends their blessings to you as well as reflect their sincere appreciation to you as well as your spouse….I would like to hope that someday we will be able to meet in person because if you see the appearance that I present you would never think that I would ever present myself with such utter, unique and common courtesy…I can't thank you enough for all of the priceless information you have provided for me as well as your viewing audience…to be continued

Also, what do you think about thank you cards or a Facebook post for gifts sent in the mail? Thank you! 🙂

Do you think that thanking someone on Facebook so the world can see what they did for you is better, or do you think a thank you card is better? Do you think it is bad etiquette to post your gifts and gratitude on Facebook?

What are your thoughts on thank you cards for young children’s events? For example my daughter just had a first birthday party. I sent a thank you to everyone for their attendance and gifts. I always tend to err on the side of sending thank you cards but wonder the etiquette here…since you have 5 children, I would love your perspective.

Thank you for the gentle push to do what's right. I never knew about thank you cards growing up. It wasn't until I got married, and married into a habitually thankful family, that I even learned how to receive a gift or a thank you card. Fifteen years later, I still forget until it's so late that it's awkward. I suppose I feel awkward anyway. On that note, thanks again for teaching me to be classy.

I have a tip that goes along with this theme. Whenever I receive anything in the mail from a friend I do not toss the envelope until I double check that I have their current address saved in Contacts in my phone. This goes for invitations to parties on Evite or any other time I have the opportunity to save someone’s mailing address. Christmas card season is a good time to double check that you’re up to date on everyone. There’re always one or two that I didn’t have saved so I’m glad I checked.
I have friends who text me every year around Christmas time for my mailing address! I want to say “save it in your phone!”, but of course I just kindly give it to them [again 😅].

Remember to send one to your grand parents. Just a kind word for nothing except the usual giving spirit
that your grandparents give without ever hesitiating. It means soooo much.

I think it’s a good idea also to give a stack of thank you notes in a cute basket along with stamps & pens . For a new bride 👰 or even for a friends baby shower . That makes a thoughtful gift & would help them to remember to send them also .

Hi Tracy. What is your opinion on sending (or not) thank yous to guests who attended your wedding, but did not send a gift or a card? Should brides thank guests for simply attending?

From this and others video, I learned that speaking slowly, calmly & clear articulation of words spoken… Are important factors that can put a person in a higher levelnof communication.

Totally agree, my mother taught us this and I have taught my daughter as well. Also, remember to add this to your Etiquette playlist on your channel. Would love to see more etiquette videos. Its astounding how many people today think etiquette is outdated!!

Can you do a video on sympathy cards and gifts. One time when we had to put out old dog down one of my neighbors sent that same day a small basket of flowers with a note. I don't know why but more than any of the texts and emails those flowers were the one thing that lifted my spirits.

Silly question, but I am writing my thank you s at the same time I am wrapping up the baby announcements. Would it be tacky to include in the same envelope? Or is it silly to send two separate mailings to the same household when it could have been included in the same envelope? Or am I overthinking?

It couldn’t be more timely Tracey. My son will be 2 months old this Wednesday and I am just now getting all these thank you notes from the gifts he’s received from his birth! I’m embarrassed it’s taken me so long. Your words of wisdom are so helpful as I’m writing all of these up!

I've been to several weddings in the last several years, gave a gift, and never received a thank you. It's sad how people can't express a thank you.

I thoroughly agree with you but, I've been told not to expect a thank you card from anyone under 30 years old. I've been told over and over again that the younger generation believes all this is old fashioned and unnecessary. I still send thank you cards and always will, it is how I was taught. I believe, as you do, that good manners never go out of style.

I agree that thAnk you notes are so important. When my kids where too small to write notes ( 2 years old) I would put their hand print on card stock and write the thank you myself. When they started learning how to write, we would sit down together and they would do the writing. Yes it took time, but they know the importance of these notes. I’ve always said that when someone takes the time to pick out a gift for you, you will take the time to thank them. I know someone that still writes thank you notes for her grown kids and it’s usually hit or miss! That’s a no no!

I don't think I could write out sympathy thank you cards. Nor could I ask someone else to write it for me.

I was raised to always write a thank you note! They are rare these days. 🙁 Thanks for encouraging us to continue this practice of showing gratitude! “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” W. A. Ward

Thanks for the wonderful video, Tracy. I'm 27 and I feel like my generation does not know proper etiquette. You're like a second mom!

Also, could you please do a video on themed gift baskets for Christmas? I think it would be a great idea. Your Christmas series was so helpful!

I have been surprised at how so many don't use thank you notes anymore. Thank you for sharing and teaching in this video! I love using handwritten notes. Whenever I receive a gift, I immediately put on my to do list to write a thank you note. 💕👍
