As a husband & wife wedding video & photo team based in Sydney, Australia we tried destination weddings and we came to a conclusion it wasn't for us. there were to many factors for us not liking it. main ones were we live too far away from the rest of the world Europe, U.S etc . our business and personal lives were effected 7-14 days every time + recovery getting sick every time from the long travel, jetlag haha. even if we were to charge 2x,3x 4x our local pricing, hire a 2nd team at the destination and travel in business class to reduce the long travel us paying everything included in our package it would be like $28,000/ $38,000 which is very unlikely to happen and it will still be a challenge again for us. every photographer upcoming or an established photographer wants to be known as destination wedding photographer but its not for everyone, its only for a select few induvial or couples that love the nomad lifestyle and live not to far away from the poplar destination wedding countries. i also think if your a destination wedding photographer and do local weddings or trying to get into it really effects your brand as customers get confused which one are you. you may seem unapproachable and very expensive even though you may not be. we did not have this issue as we did not heavily create a image that we are destination wedding photographer s but i have seen it to much lately on Instagram everyone trying to get on the destination band wagon.
