And these requests ALWAYS come during the peak or "pre-peak" of the party (pre-peak meaning the alcohol is kicking in or is the party hitting its max vibe) I have the requestor write the song down (pen and pad) Then i ask "is there anybody i can dedicate this song to or give a shoutout to" Then i get into small chat like you were suggesting towards the end , but i engage them a little more depending on how aggressive they are. I am gauging them on how persistent they are. Now if they recommend a banger (that they wrote down) I drop it as quickly as i can (just to get them the f out of my face) but if its a sleeper and they are like a gnat that wont stop flying around your fjking face or / aggressive / drunk – – i will do the whole "I gotcha" thing knowing after this peak there is only a certain amount of time left in the party. During my "scout" / dinner / dances i have most likely already profiled you — this person and know who they are with and what influence they have. From there ill make a decision. Weddings…. ahhhhhhh lol

I just did a wedding tonight and I was so annoyed with all of the ridiculous requests. The problem I have with requests… they interrupt you while you’re trying to work. I tell people to write down the exact name of the song and artist on a notepad that I have at my station. Half the time that doesn’t happen they just come to you in the middle of you trying to find another song to mix and say hey do you have this ridiculous dumb song that I wanna hear that no one else wants to hear. It’s annoying to AF. The problem also is, usually the DJ is set up in an area where people can just walk up to them. They’re not in a booth or away from the guests. So you’re in line for a bombardment of ridiculous requests.

The ass kissing phase is in the past. Especially females who want control, they get cut off, it's ok, not basing my long career around waste cases. If I know them and we are on good terms I'll go all out.

It's in my contract. Do u want me to do my thg or do u want me to take requests.. if they say take requests..I tell them to go ahead and make a Playlist wit people they're inviting and give to me a week in advance.. if they tell me to do my thg . I tell them I'm going to charge if they ask for requests.. that way they know..

One of the funniest reactions I ever heard from a dj that hated requests was "I'm not spotify if you want requests go listen to it"
That was also one of the worsts dj's ever he couldn't even get the beats right.

No need to lie, that last one works every time. They'll be disappointed, but they'll respect the honesty

Good video! I take request on a written sheet, I find them helpful during school dances. As the kids know the newer music more than I do. Commonly I have it, I do preview it 1st. And ask the 2 questions. I find some of the he kids at school dances try and o get you a o play a pretty bad song, I don’t need the school staff looking at me with lowered eye brows.

I will throw the couple under the BUS, TRAIN,PLANE,CAB,TROLLY,SCOOTER,CAR or ,MOTORCYCLE, cause I'm there to please the crowd as well as the couple, Cause we all know we're auditioning for our next gig anytime someone sees us Djing So the worst thing you can do is have people Talking bad about you when they get go to work the next day. So if that couple puts restrictions on me I'm definitely letting people know who come up and request a song that is the couple that doesn't want me to play it.
