my greatest take away from this is "be nice" thank you so much for this and for all your content.
do you have information on the mayan rivera?
Don't stay at Excellence El Carmen.
[1/5] Not what you see advertised. AI reviews on Google be warned.
Excellence El Carmen wasn't up to their advertised standards. This is a statement I would make even if my wife and I didn't go home early from our honeymoon with food poisoning. Beware the overwhelmingly positive reviews on Google make no sense if you read them.
At worst:
Vacationing here has a high chance of getting you sick. Not just upset stomach sick, but getting no sleep because of the constant throwing up, aches and diarrhea. The resort will not refund you for any unused portions of your stay. No matter what is promised to you, you will never see a refund. So you will have to choose between staying and eating the food that almost put you in a Punta Cana hospital, or leaving and never seeing the money again. There are several others with similar experiences recently, and throughout the years. They are all correct. If you're planning your vacation here, understand there is a higher than you think percent chance you get sick.
At best:
The beach will be nice to lay out at and the water will be clear, but you will get solicited by strangers on the beach. They are nice and will not bother you if you say no, but they will not stop coming. The weather is amazing if you're from the Northeast US like me, but it will rain for several hours each day without fail if you're going most months of the year. While you're inside waiting for the rain to go, you can check out the mold-smelling so-so quality rooms, sample the food that might make you sick (there are lots of options), drink, or even check out the sports bar. The sports bar has a row of TVs that play the same illegal streaming sites I could access from my couch, with matching quality.

We were here early June 2024.
Punta Cana has great beaches but terrible service, especially compared to places in Mexico where service is usually great
Good advice about making reservations late, but really, making reservations on vacation ruins the flow somewhat IMO. Finding out if they have good room service 24/7 is imorotant to me as hotel snob hahah
Love what you said about quality of the reviewer and I aim to leave (low tech) video reviews from the perspective of a picky traveler…which I am. Love that you said that. TripAdvisor is also filled with reviews from people with less than 10 reviews. It’s suspect. I inky even read reviews from people who have been leaving them for years and have well over 100 reviews.
I might have missed it, but why did you say to book a la carte as late as you can? I book early like at opening because booking late tends to run into the entertainment time or I'm done eating and the trolleys don't show up or whatever. Or if the food is gross there's time to go to the buffet or snack bar or room service. Just curious about your opinions in case I've been doing it all wrong all these years haha.
I have been to more than five different Caribbean locations, and this one is my favourite so far https://youtu.be/tKMaobfH9ro?si=y9yd6xDM5djNu6fL
Just stayed at an all inclusive in Cypress. Hated it. Food was garbage drinks sucked. Ended up leave the hotel to get a decent meal on the last couple of days. No thx
Would you say Tulum is safe anymore to go for Americans?
Great point about being nice. Great book to read- HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE !!
Thanks, we like your positive attitude.
Which all inclusive do you recommend for Egypt?
El dorado Royal riviera Maya, or breathless Punta Cana?
Walking 5th Avenue in Playa Del Carmen, my wife was approached multiple times….hey pretty lady I was your waiter at such and such…..finally, a guy did that and she said "Yeah…I remember you. You did a terrible job. I didn't even leave you a tip.". He was speechless.
Awesome tips ❤
can you do a Video on the BEST All- Inclusive you have stayed in.
Thank you for your time and posting. Great information. I used to work at The Sheraton Mirage Resort in Northern Queensland, Australia. Almost always, the customer's travel agent would "forget" to tell them they could not swim in the ocean along One Mile Beach half the year because of the Box Jellyfish. And the water was warmer than a bath. I worked at the Ritz Carlton on Maui, HI, and nobody ever told the guests how stinking windy it was. And a side note. When you ask for something, ALWAYS be polite about it, "May I please have…", Is it possible to please get…", "Thank you very much…". I've gotten more free stuff and been upgraded during my travels because I'm polite. Which in the past 40 years, has become a rarity. 🙁 Even when I don't get what I want, I always say, " Thank you anyway", which would create something positive. Thank you again. Subscribed. 🙂
Nice job with video…informative stuff and I agree with all of it!
Was planning a trip to cancun the end of May. Has anyone been in cancun last week of May? Should i expect alot of seaweed on the beaches?
My perspective is that the 3 main things you should be concerned about is?
THE ROOM? Being 20 party party Cabo is very different than 60 Nappie Nappie Cabo. You may spend a lot of time in your room. And if it has a ton of problems? they will become your problems, very quickly. Nobody loves a backed up toilet with bed bugs and a bed that is hard as rock with one towel and 2 rolls of one ply toilet paper
FOOD? No one ever ever ever ever goes to Cuba for the food and if you book at one of those low end hotels? you may find yourself in a food fight with the other nasty hungry tourists and the locals who flood the resorts so if you are looking for 5 star cuisine at 2 star resort?
TRIP ADVISOR REVIEWS? Learn to differentiate between the repeaters who have been to the same resort for 600 years, and thank Carlos and Merila, and Juan, and Berez, and Monito, next to the other ninety reviews who either hated it or loved it for a good reason? Learn the differences between the real issues? and the bitching about how the coffee wasn't dark enough? If 50 reviews say it sucks? and 2 say its fantastic? Id bet on the 50
WEATHER? Personally speaking I check the Weather Network for the next 7 or 14 days. If its going to be bright and sunny? yeah team. It it says sunny with rainstorms? it may last an hour or so, and then its nice and sunny. Tropical downpours all week? wait until next week or the week after. For most working people you have to book your vacations ahead of time so it can be a real crap shoot. But do you really want to spend your vacation listening to rainstorms?
STAFF? Tipping goes a long long way between having a good time and a $ time. You have to pay your tip insurance its just how things work in the big bad world, so dont be rude, be nice if you want to upgrade? Confirm as the man says, just wait until you arrive and tip the hotel reservations person 20 US to confirm the confirmation as money has a way of making things better. I could write volumes, but overall be smart, and trust NO ONE
One thing I’ve noticed with upscale service packages, is they can even vary in value at the same resort from week to week depending on the staffing and supply situation. We’ve had Diamond Club for two week stays, where one week it did not seem to be worth it at all, and then the second week it was amazing.
I found out the hard way to book the lodging at the resort directly.
Using a travel service like Expedia has downsides.
Same thing for the flight. Book it directly with the airline.
You look like you lost 100 pounds
What website did you use to book?
Uploaded 52 seconds ago… damn i'm late! 😮
Dope info bro. Found your channel before we hit Riu Republica last week. Your info was spot on! Definitely legit. Trip advisor is a gamble. You really do have to find somebody on here you kina resonate with and roll with that. Dope channel man!
The bracelet tip is very good.
I’m booking all inclusive for myself 46 and my two adult children 20&22. They love drinks and food but nothing high class chief like. Any suggestions? Also all inclusive that let 3share a room? Txs in advance ❤
What is your opinion on new resorts? Currently looking at secrets tides in Punta Cana. Thanks!
God bless you sir
I don’t know if you respond to comments, but a few things:
1) You are far and away my go-to for resort reviews, and it’s not even close… I watch your channel even when I’m not planning a trip, but you just seem like an enjoyable human… Keep it up brother!
2) Where were you at the 11:20 mark?
3) My girl and I recently stayed at Lopesan Costa Bávaro, based on your review (almost went to one of the Excellence’s or Live Aqua, but chose Lopesan) and WOW!!! It was BY FAR the most beautiful resort (aesthetically) I’ve ever stayed at… Absolutely stunning layout and great resort… The fact that you’ve rated some higher, makes me really curious as to how great those are…
4) Just reiterating #1! Keep up the amazing work
“Don’t be afraid to ask.”
I find this is an everything in life tip as far as I’m concerned.
I love your advice over a staging hotel. I’ve done it, makes a lot of sense. Saves you $100’s of dollars. No reason to pay for an all inclusive, or high dollar hotel if you don’t get there until after 9-10pm
Thank you
total smash count?
Great tips 👍
Bro you had awesome 2 years
Xcaret Arte next? 😉 Get a room in the Artistas building you'll love the view!
Royalton splash rivera cancun is where i spent the last week at it wasnt great maybe my expectations were too high
stay away from cuba. yes all resorts.
Your reviews are the BEST!
Have stayed at the Krystal grand in Cancun ?
I'm in doubt about my honeymoon trip. Which is the better option, Secrets Cap Cana or Hyatt Zilara? I accept suggestions and tips.
Cancun's All Inclusive is a "Ripoff" most of the time. Why – so many Food and Drink places outside Your Resort. So many day trips outside Your resort – I've been to Cancun 4 times from 1985 to 2005 when it was affordable to stay at one of the "Nice Resorts" but now they are All-Inclusive. So unless You plan on Eating and Drinking to the Max – there is no real value in all inclusive – I plan on staying in Playa Del Carmen or Isla Mujeres in a regular Hotel or Resort.
Have you been to Dubai ? If so can you do a video on the hotels there. Your videos help me out when I went to RIU republica a few months ago.
