I genuinely assumed that all the vendors on the knot were affiliate links. The vendors they recommended in my area (getting married in just under a month wooo!!) were so ridiculously out of my price range that it was actually funny. I found all my vendors through personal recommendations
I dropped the Knot 5 years ago. Lately, I've been getting at least 2-3 per day. Generic messages. And they NEVER leave a contact phone number. They dont reach out when we provide pricing and our office number.
Wish I had seen this before my Husband and I signed up with the knot. Experienced EVERYTHING you covered in this video!!! Still have PTSD from this! Would LOVE to be put on the Waitlist for your Lead Generating System!!!! Link in description isn't directing to waitlist page.
They are a scam plain and simple. I have run a couple of businesses over the years and never ran into anything like it. The account managers lie, the company makes unauthorized charges, false claims etc. This all happened to me directly. Now they're trying to charge me for some random charge in a less than professional email. It's to the point that it's just strange
Iβm trying to cancel now, I had to contact my bank. How is that even legal!! POS company, no real leads, waste of money. Iβm just one person!
I just ran my numbers after 5 years on the Knot. Out of 532 leads, I've booked 17 clients. To say my jaw dropped is an understatement. That's not even 1% booking rate. And I know I'm not a a bad photographer. The upside to running these numbers, is that I will be able to justify not renewing my Knot contract when it comes up again this November.
Iβm about to cancel my subscription with them. No visits no return on investments yet. This is a waste of time!
I fell into the trap, not knowing to much more about the knot except it was a free site for brides to use for wedding planning. Boy, was I mistaken for the ROI that they said I would get. At the end of my contract I am running. I must say although I have had over a hundred leads I may have less than half that have moved forward. Thanks Jaime for this video, confirming what my next plan is. Oh, and can you add me to the wait list for vendors, IWbE, officiant-decorator. Liz O. You can find me on the book. Thanks again.
Just wanted to say THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS VIDEO!!!! I had a meeting set up TODAY to go over the contract and JOIN the KNOT and so I thought I'd look into them further to be prepared, etc. so I did more research. SO glad I did because I've learned a LOT based on reviews and Youtube videos where people are stuck in a contract, and empty promises. You SAVED me from the headache/nightmare others are going through and I appreciate your feedback to help others. I only wanted to make wedding favor candles to help out couples on their big day but little did I know this was a bigger issue! lol I'll stick to the local stores in Columbus Oh. π
fun fact a vender can change their business name on the knot which can evade or mislead consumers into thinking that the vendor has not participated in any dubious business practices. My first photographer scammed me and numerous other brides but I had no clue because she kept changing her name of her businesses and deleting negative reviews.
I used the knot thinking this was the best. All of that time there just to still want the one venue I always saw as a teen! Thankful for your resources and I will ensure to use the master plan ππΎ
I used the knot but not reallyβ¦. I used it for the rsvp tracking and website portion. I liked it for my purposes but I found all of my vendors etc on my own.
It's not a great place for vendors either. They send out fake leads so that you will keep your membership with them.. but the people never actually book.
What a joke! The Knot is prime to be taken over! Who is in charge? I left messages for over two months, only to find my Acct Exec doesnβt work for themβ¦Albeit, her voice mail is still active. The only rep I spoke with told me she wasnβt an employee, only after I asked. This rep didnβt even have my βnewβ acct executive, only an email. I wrote him on April 9, no response for almost a month! ugh.
I was on Wedding Wire/ The Knot years ago as a DJ. They'd send me leads from states over 1000 miles away from my area. I would get leads that were scammers and one went as far as sending me a large check for a wedding that of course, I didn't cash. In a few years, I got only a handful of true leads. Definitely not worth the money.
our booking have been down … is it just us ? In Ga all our business comes from Social Media… now thinking of someone like the Knot?
Hello, please help me. Iβm Scared to death. I just signed up with wedding pro. Just got a weird lead from someone who is not even in my state. I didnβt even complete my storefront/ Profile and I got a strange lead. What did I get myself into. Please help me. Iβm a photobooth owner and I thought this company would be great to provide my service. Iβm sick to my stomachβ¦.helpβ¦. Getting leads from out of my geographical areaβ¦.
Thank goodness I haven't been using the knot for vendors but I hope the knot gets repercussions for this and the victims get compensated. I just used it to get started wedding planning and was going to look for vendors on my own. The knot is such a great resource and consumers should be able to trust the knot to hook them up with good, hardworking vendors and small businesses.
Just canceled my subscription! Boom! Seriously, I get so many spammy βleadsβ. Very frustrating! Iβve gotten leads from people supposedly getting married the following week. π€¦π½ββοΈ You have to jump through hoops to get reviews; just not willing to do it anymore. π
I had to email them about cashing out my wedding monetary gift.
3:25 as an Accountant, it's hilarious hearing someone spell out GAAP and then follow it with Yada yada yada π
That's exactly how accounting feels like, yada yada yada
Ahemβ¦. The knotβ¦ okay sure. Every review u read on YELP is paid for.
And- who really scamming people are these companies that charge 400% more than any other vendor Iβve ever worked withβ¦ for weddings. Planers taking a backend on every vendor, and just the sheer amount of unregulated business practices.
I did not like using the knot or wedding wire. They would send me to venues and vendors that were out of my price range.
Thank you for making this video! just stumbled across your channel yesterday and have been enjoying your content so much. I'm so glad I came across this video, because I was trying to use The Knot to research wedding stuff and now I know not to give them my time and just to contact vendors through their own sites!
I canβt wait for my contract to be up. The Knot has costed us so much money and the leads are bogus. So frustrating and biggest waste of money weβve ever spent.
So when I was in OC – The Knot SUCKED. It worked out that I was paying $300 for reach booking so that ROI was not it…but since I've moved to a smaller area, 80% of my bookings are coming from Wedding Pro platform. Do I suspect that I get fake leads when things go quiet – yes and HELL yes for the OC market. Do I think a lot of it also has to do with market size and how many people are competing in your category – yes. Are they also difficult to work with and salesy – yeup!!! So take what you will from that.
Hey Jamie, it is me Deema. I signed up for the Wedding Pro like we discussed before as a wedding planner and it has been nothing but fake profiles. I am tired of it. I am paying money to not get any clients. I am easy to work with. I have received so many fake inquiries.
After looking at the big 3 I found weddingwire is the best for us! We did look more on Google for vendors but we love it for the wedding website and the guest list/RSVP
What about Zola is Zola good ?
Planning my Disney wedding, just got engaged. Clicked your account because I have been watching for years for fun and am finally needing it! Glad I found this. Need a wedding website and I am so glad I caught this video!!!
As a bride, I tried at first to use the knot and just didnβt like it. I also had the same idea that the vendors on the knot would be out of budget because they would be paying for ad services. Instead I looked for Facebook group chats in my area and although itβs hard to trust random people on Facebook (since I know there are a ton of scammers out there) it was basically my only option. I am still very skeptic all about FB since at least in my area there seems to be a lot of con artists and scamming that have great reviews and referrals. I wish there was a way that I could trust reviews to not be written by bots or by someone with mal intentions. I honestly think that is the biggest problem of using anything like the knot, wedding wire, Facebook, or even google.
Wow, I'm so glad that my business was removed from the Knot. I had a grandfathered in free account (from before they merged) which was closed for reasons that I still can't confirm after repeatedly refusing to upgrade to a paid account. Prior to getting booted (2 years under my supervision) we got maybe 1 or 2 bookings.
This is why when I researched my vendors I checked every possible source of infoβ¦ google, wedding wire, Instagram, Facebook and only chose vendors that were recommended either by our venue or other brides β¦never trusted the Knot fully as a bride
Ahh this makes me sad. The knot was a god send to me. I planned my whole wedding on the knot. Every vendor I found was amazing.
I'm using Zola for my planning and so far so good. Not sure how it is for vendors though
Did NOT realize this, but thank you so much for sharing!!
I actually feel like you can't trust reviews on the knot either. It feels bad reviews are removed even if they're honest? I visited a venue that had some red flags, but had 5 out of 5 stars. Listened to my gut and didn't book. I now see bad reviews for them on Facebook in a local group all the time, and yet still holding strong 5 out of 5 stars on the knot!
I recently tried out the knot as a new bride and was pretty shocked that almost ALL of the venders the recommended were permanently closed π€¨ just hasnβt been a five star experience and this video doesnβt surprise me
What I did was find one vendor like a photographer, especially who is active on social media and posting their work because they almost always tag the other vendors, either in the caption or on the photo itself. So I did a little bit of a treasure hunt to see who was being tagged in my area and what their cost was.
I tried using the knot, but it seemed like their pickings were slim. I kept getting the same type of venues with no versatility. I live in Chicago. I KNOW there's more than 50 venues here….
This is such a helpful YouTube video. We are new brides (June 2025) and are trying to find our vendors.
Found a wedding planner via Wedding Wire (great experience) but will look elsewhere for all other vendors including venue. Will also use anything but the Knot for our wedding website.
Thank you for sharing & shedding some light on the industry! Also – LOVE your channel! Itβs been so helpful to put on these videos as we take steps toward planning our wedding!
Im a florist and so far i havent had an issue, i pay $269 monthly and each month i make that back.
