Watching this in 2021. What is the worst part of planning a wedding? lol not knowing what next week let alone next month will hold :/ currently postponing and hoping 2022 is a lot better.

I did my own makeup for my wedding…it was HANDS DOWN the best decision I made (besides my choice of husband 😂🤣) It took so much stress off of me because I knew exactly how I wanted to look and didn't have to rely on someone else doing what I wanted.

I have a question about eyeliner. I'm getting married in June and I've had the hardest time trying to find one that doesn't bleed down my eye. Do you have any recommendations or could it be what I use as an eyemakeup remover that's making my eyes do that?

I am such a big fan and I love your videos! I too am engaged and have started the planning process! I’m too much of a control freak to let anyone do my makeup too. For my wedding I even want my bridesmaids to do our own makeup together bc I think it’ll be fun, save us some money, and also they know what they like more than a stranger even if they are a professional! I’m in a bridal party for my friend and she’s hiring someone to do our makeup and it’s $70 each for airbrush makeup and I’m not excited about it but I’m gonna be supportive for her big day! Everyone is different! Whatever makes you happy love! Your venue sounds amazing please get pictures of the ceiling!!!

I got married when I was 26 and I did not discover make up until I was 30 and now I am 34 I bought make up at the dollar store I didn’t know how to put make up on and I look very washed out and the make up you did just now is very good but I would add a blue toner red lip. I like dramatic make up but what a nude lip in photos and everything will be muted out it’s the best way to feel more done up with a red lip is going to make everything pop. Just from my experience. Its up to you

Hi Shae, I’m marrying in June and I’m a Makeup artist too and I had the same problem as you 🙈 first I thought of doing my own makeup, then I decided i might be stressed out so it was better to find someone who would do it for me but I couldn’t find anyone so I’m doing my own makeup 😂 I think i’ll just have to wake up a bit earlier but it will be nice to be in control of what I look like, because no one knows me better than myself, and it will be the only moment of the day that i’ll be with myself, so it could turn out to be a relaxing moment, at least I’m hoping so 😂🤞🏼

This makeup looks absolutely stunning on you. If you're still on the fence about having someone else do it, I'd do it myself if I were you! You're so talented and know your face and application preferences. So happy for you, girlie!

Hi… it’s been almost a month but maybe you’re still interested in wedding talk?

I just got married Sept 2018.

My now husband and I tried to save but after 7 years life had been… hard. So he said to hell with it we’d waited long enough.
No wedding party.
No veil! My mother made a pretty beaded headpiece for me.
I watched people like you to learn and then did my own makeup!
My sister did my hair.
I did my own nails with cheap Walmart nails that I filed and painted myself haha.
My jewelry was something I’d owned for years and were large pink and purple stones.
My dress was clearance – hard to find being a plus size lady! But somehow I tried it on and it fit me so perfectly I didn’t even need alterations!
He got a suit he could wear again.
My fiancé and I got ready at home together and saw each other when I casually walked into the bedroom to find him putting our wedding bands in the small box I’d found at value village. We smiled like ding bats and rushed down to our own car and drove to the venue.
We did couple photos before the ceremony too. Family photos were a bit rushed because it was UNBEARABLY hot and I was near passing out in my heavy satin gown and corset (but my makeup stayed put!!!).
I walked the aisle to an unusual song too (to commemorate my Dad who passed).
Our ceremony was short. No candle lighting, no sand pouring, just vows and rings.
The reception had a small table for just me and him away from everyone else. So glad too. We could just talk to each other and get a break from everyone.
No parent dances.
No speeches.
Instead of centrepieces we had cupcake bouquets (a white fancy metal pot with cupcakes decorated like flowers in the shape of a bouquet)
Our cake was just a regular 9inch on a cake stand I’d found at a garage sale for $5.
It was just immediate family and close friends. So it was small.
It was exactly what we wanted and we loved it.

We still can’t afford a honey moon. But we still have foolish grins when we put on our rings and go out somewhere.

If you’re still reading… my advice is this: Lower your expectations. Let things go wrong because they will. And it’s okay to wait until the day of to decide if you want winged liner or not (I wore the shit out of shimmery eyeshadow and it looked beautiful in person and in pictures).

I hope your day is filled with happiness and joy. Good luck with the planning, the day of, the trips, and with marriage as a whole.

Congratulations Shae! I live in India and you should plan an Asian destination for your honeymoon when you’re in India. Just go for a week to Sri Lanka or Maldives or Bali. You’re spoilt for choice and Asians really know their hospitality well!

I got married in my grand parents living room wearing an $80 dress. I did my own makeup and my hairdresser friend did my hair. I did have a reception, we had a great time and it was the best day. It was 100% my husband and me. I also have my grand parents rings (I wear her engagement ring). You do you, it's your day.

The worst thing was the hairdresser not turning up! So my planned up-do never happened… thankfully I'd just had a spiral perm (yes, this was decades ago!) so it still looked good down, but – urgh, it was SOOO upsetting/stressful!😦

I would do my own makeup on my wedding day because one of my favorite things to do with my friends is to do our makeup. We sit and chat and try out looks we'd never do for a normal day and have fun with it. I'd love that to be a part of my special day.

Well, for what it's worth, you look gorgeous in this makeup look!! Also, YES, you can definitely have the dress sized down in fittings.

The eye look was very pretty – change that one glittery shadow of course. Too much transfer. Though I would maybe think twice about a dark liner in your waterline – especially in case there are tears!!! It might run and move around and smudge things.

I loved everything about my wedding day! Did a few things go wrong? YES. Did that actually matter or make the day any less amazing? NO! 🙂

If I could change anything about my wedding day it would probably be my makeup. I got married in 2014, and while I have always enjoyed makeup, I didn't get super into learning new techniques and owning lots of different products for different purposes until the tail end of 2017. As in, at the time I got married I literally owned one blush. One 5-pan eyeshadow palette. Two lipsticks. One foundation. Zero concealer. Zero setting powder. Zero bronzer. I used a dark eyeliner to slightly fill in my brows. You get the picture. And I didn't hire anyone to do my makeup. The only thing I did differently on my wedding day to my basic every day makeup was that I swapped out my regular mascara for a waterproof one because I knew I would be crying tears of joy! I felt pretty on my wedding day, and I still LOVE all my wedding photos (we had such a fantastic photographer!), but I know that if I had the skills and the products in 2014 that I do now, I could have achieved a much better bridal makeup look!

My best wedding day advice is just to enjoy the day. Don't let tiny hiccups (or even unforeseen "catastrophes") spoil your happiness–just expect them to happen and roll with it when they do. The important thing is the love and commitment that you are celebrating; everything else is beautiful and fun, but ultimately insignificant.
