Love all your videos, Krista. This video was very informative, and I appreciate your input. I actually also got engaged in 2023 and am getting married next week. I agree with much of what you said and your input. However, I thought I'd add a different approach for folks to consider just as some food for thought. My fiance is a pilot and I'm a nurse, so we can probably technically afford to spend more on our wedding. However, we opted to make it a very simple wedding for less than $10,000. Some couples want to and will spend that average cost of 30K on a wedding (there is nothing wrong with that); however, for us, we opted to use that money instead in other ways to just benefit our future. Not everyone has to see it our way of course, but we realized as a couple that we have so many financial goals we want to achieve, so we opted to do a very simple yet still nice wedding (in my opinion). I'll let you know how I feel after all is said and done if interested if going cheaper was worthwhile, but that was our approach. Not to be the debbie downer because it 100% is a special day and I believe it does need to celebrated, and not super cheaply either, but there are some awesome ways to do a wedding under 10K too if people want. It is achievable. If that's not what you're going for, and do want the big wedding and party, very cool. There's nothing wrong with it. It is definitely an option to do it other ways too though. For example, we picked a beautiful setting and just got creative with our "venue" and certain vendors. My wedding is certainly not the average cost though and I know most people will go for the approximately 30K wedding. But just want everyone to know there are some cool options if you get creative to go cheaper. And I know you are money conscious too, so I figured I'd share my personal experience too. But congrats to you guys and happy wedding planning!! Don't mean to rain on your parade at all, just wanted to suggest another approach. Thx for posting and listening to my ted talk lol.
