I actually feel like I'm one of the brides out there who is not very stressed about wedding planning and that it might be because my fiance and I decided to have a kind of long engagement so that we can figure out everything. We still have over a year until our wedding date but we have a lot of big ticket items already taken care of and now I'm really just working on the small details as they come to me. I don't feel rushed because we a lot of ourselves a lot of time to prepare and I think that's one of the key things as well. P

Just wanna shout out on the wedding podcast topic, I highly recommend wedding confessionals. It's old and not still putting out new episodes but I am OBSESSED and found it from an old Jamie YouTube video (:

Here’s an interesting idea for you to summarize- the movie Father of the Bride (the 1991 version) of the different ideas and concepts they came up with when trying to plan for the wedding. (Ik it’s 30+ years old but what’s really changed? What’s been added to planning “the big day”?

Honestly, I'm to the point where we might just elope. Everything is so expensive and it's just too much stress. 🥴😭

From 30 seconds into this video I knew this was going to essentially be a long ad for The Master Plan, and I'm here for it. 😜

In India this DIY is a new trend. We have never had it ever. We just hire venues or go to place of worship and get married. Hire a venue? Venue takes care of everything. Food, decor, staff to assist guests to the seats, dinner, after dinner party etc. Wedding planners are quite rare because venues themselves handle everything. Many venues here do not allow outside caterers or planners or florists. Whatever you want, you tell them. And only they will do it. Less than 10% of venues will allow an outsider to do it. DIY is purely a western concept that is now trending a bit in India. Place of worship no wedding decor allowed. Cause it's place of worship.

I find setting the initial budget stressful. I know weddings can be so many different sizes, locations etc that all hugely affect the budget. I'm not engaged yet, but hopefully soon, so I'm saving money, and really wish there was somewhere beautiful enough that kinda had everything set up and ready to go, so i just show up and marry the man I love and all our guests have a wonderful time.

Great information as usual Jamie! I am 4 months out and nothing about the planning is particularly stressing me out. Although what is annoying and making me is my dress consultant.

8 months ago made it seem like we needed to get our dress orders in quickly; now the last couple months it's "you have more than enough time honey" 😂🤨. All of this is to get a sample dress that he suggested to order; yet to be seen. Which mean my girls don't have a dress picked out yet (4 months out). Also the person that I was intending to use as day of coordinating may not work out and of course I can't afford to hire an official one. 😒

I would highly recommend the master plan with Jamie Wolfer. After being married for 25 years, I lost my spouse to cancer. Fast-forward seven years later and I am planning a wedding at age 55. Just like Jamie says it changes, evolves, and why not take the advice where she has it. It’s one central repository of information. The videos on YouTube are the icing on the cake. My wedding date is coming up in a couple of weeks. I am much less stressed by following this plan. Way to go Mrs. Wolfer!

What I’m finding most stressful is just researching options and emailing people, that drains my patience like a hole in a bucket! No room for a wedding planner in my budget though, so that’s an area where I just need to suck it up lol

Before your master plan came out there were wedding books with the checklists. But even after you’ve chosen the best list to follow, you only avoid stress if the bride and groom do the work making decisions on schedule! That’s hard for working couples. So don’t forget there are BOOKS. Some advise may be out of date but libraries are free and thrift books almost free.
