So what do you think of these tips?
Great tips!
I can't even tell you how many times I have told an inexperienced officiant to use the handheld microphone for the additional readers and they didn't. Then everyone is looking at the dj like "I can't hear them". No S**T! They aren't using a microphone
I always talk to the officiant because I put a lavalier mic on him/her. Also, I've noticed some recent weddings that the officiant didn't say "For the 1st time, MR & MRS" which is my que to play the recessional song …. I'd wait for that que and he wouldn't say it .. so now I know to ask that he/she is going to say that lol
Legit, great advice& great content! 👍
Thanks Jason! Do you use wireless mics more than lav mics? Do you prefer to use a boom or straight stand for your wireless mic?
Literally had to signal to the officiant (who said he’s done many weddings) to have everyone rise before Bride came in. He was just waiting for a solid minute after her song was playing 😅.
Love that you’ve been so specific uplifting the industry for new djs.
Perfect advice! I just had an officiant a week ago that I thought was experienced at doing weddings, but just like you mentioned she was nervous and didn't ask everyone to sit. We were five minutes into the ceremony and everyone was still standing. The wedding coordinator and I started signaling to everyone from the back of the room that they could sit down.
One thing I always try to do is put the lapel mic on the officiant as early as possible, either at rehearsal or several minutes before the ceremony, and have them read or say a few lines to check their volume. Every officiant has a different voice projection level, so I try to set the volume accordingly.
Perfect tips for ceremony, one thing I’ve haven’t mentioned to the officiant is about sitting the crowd down. This has happened to me last year when a family member was the officiant. Sitting down, will now be part of my officiant pre ceremony review.
