How does it work for Italy and Australia? Should I tip or it is not required?

Getting married in 15 days!!! Have used The Masterplan the whole year-long engagement! It's the best! I recommend it all the time! From New Brunswick, Canada

How much should you tip for drop off catering for food over $500?

I am a pastoral chaplain (and officiant) in Ottawa🇨🇦. Apparently, some people need a space so, I’ll be doing some planning.

I was wondering, for the caterer, is a service charge inclusive of a tip? Would it be acceptable to pay the service charge and tip cash to servers without adding anything on top?

In addition to leaving reviews and referring friends, tag them when you post their work on social media!!!

As a venue included planner I get paid an hourly rate (same as catering staff) so a tip would be incredible but it still isn’t expected

Hi! Planning my own wedding for 5.20.22, but also own a bridal hair and makeup team. Planning from Northern California – Sonoma County! This was so so helpful! The only one I didn't hear you talk about was dessert/cake vendor. 😉 Thanks for putting this together!

Do you think these standards still apply post pandemic?

Reply
@src4409 4 October 2024 - 12:37 pm

Industry standard, for more than a decade, for servers or bartenders is 18%. Is there a reason why you would say that they only expect 10%? Do they get paid more per hour for an event?

Late to this video, but I'm planning a wedding in South Dakota for May 2022! Jamie, you are a ray of sunshine and I'm so thankful for all of your insight 🙂

Just thought I'd share that some churches, if a couple is having their pastor or priest officiate the wedding ceremony, do not charge for officiating services and in that case usually expect/appreciate a donation/tip given to the clergy member upon completion of their services the day of the wedding.

@Lijjxo 4 October 2024 - 12:37 pm

Every vendor you listed that expects a tip has included it in my contract. So that means day of I don’t need to bring any extra with me?

@cantelopes 4 October 2024 - 12:37 pm

I know this video is old but I have a "bundled" vendor where my caterer and DJ are on the same contract. Do I tip them separately or do I tip based on the overall cost for both combined and they have to split it up? Sorry if that is a dumb question, I am not good with numbers and tipping etiquette! haha

Reply
@NicoleMarie251 4 October 2024 - 12:37 pm

Wow super helpful! Only things is I have a bridal attendant day of the wedding. She is provided by the venue however not included in the tip that is part fo the contract. Any advise?

@juliemonk8946 4 October 2024 - 12:37 pm

Just one thing, officiants definitely expect to be paid, whether you call it a tip or not. Probably not if it's your best friend who got a license online, but a clergyperson from a church should be paid. Weddings are an extra obligation, requiring coordination in advance, a rehearsal and the wedding. I worked in a church for 14 years and clergy always got paid extra by the family for weddings and funerals.

Love your videos – thank you!

Great video, but do you think I need to tip the security guard? Having a security guard is required for the venue since alcohol will be served. I'm not sure if they should be tipped or not. Any advice?

Engaged March 2020 right before the pandemic hit. Couldn’t plan anything and work cut my hours. Had no idea what to do. Finally got a new job that started September so we chose an all included venue to help us figure out what the heck to do. Package comes with the tables chairs food etc and vendors (dj, photographer and limo) it’s all the basics though. Because me and my fiancé had to move in together early and both live paycheck to paycheck these videos are helping me kinda figure out what to do. I wish I found these videos a lot earlier though now that I have to cram everything into 10 months it’s not fun lol. Oh and we are paying for the wedding ourselves. Yayyyyy not. Wish we had help with it but that’s okay. Lol thank you so much for these videos I really appreciate it! Wedding is March 11th 2022. I wish I could afford a wedding planner because honestly I still kinda am confused on what I’m doing. Just found out I have to make the menus and didn’t know even to ask about that until I heard about it in a bridal fb group. Lol so these videos are making me now think what else am I missing ? I’m so fearful I’ll forget something and not even know I’m forgetting it because I won’t know it exists. Ugh. Downloaded the timeline though, thank you for that as well!

For a bartender that's part of a hotel where I am paying for the service fee on top of the drinks, is it expected to tip them as well? Or are they considered as part of the catering team who's getting the 25% service charge (which I assume is their tip?)

I am from Mid Missouri and I am not yet planning a wedding, but am hoping to be starting the process soon (ish). I will be planning on a budget (because I dont want to spend more than a house down payment on a wedding).

I will definitely be a diy bride on some things, including making my own dress since I love dressmaking. Going to take your advice and not overdo it on diy though.

I watched everything about a year ago, and not my boyfriend has put a promise ring on me and is gonna ask for my hand next winter so ya girl is all excited but nobody wants to hear about it or anything cause I'm not even properly engaged, but because I intend on having a rather shirt engagement, I'm trying to put together everything I can. He's the only one I can talk about wedding planning to and I'm a bit overzealous and an overplanner so I hope I don't wear him out. I know this is an old video, but it was one of the first ones I saw way back when so I do be back!

We're currently planning our wedding for March 2021 and I'm booking a all-inclusive package that covers ceremony/reception sites, and dinner. It includes a 24% service charge. Is this the same as a tip or am I expected to tip additionally? We're already looking at $6000 for 20 guests and that's with the 24% added on, which is then taxed as well.

I’ve been one of those silent subscriber types, so here we go: From Oregon, getting married September 19th!! Only a little over a month away 🤗 Been watching Jamie’s videos since January or so, and binging more now than ever as the wedding day approaches. Oh, and I’ve been planning my wedding myself! Fortunately, I’ve been able to plan enough in advance where my experience has been very enjoyable and exciting rather than stressed, so planning as far out in advance, and in stages, really helps! 😊
