Interesting. Speaking as an American bride, here in the US, anyone can be legalized to officiate marriages. So, if you want a friend or family member to do that for you and have it be legal, you can. Also, religious ceremonies don't have to be in a religious building to be legal. It's interesting to learn how different cultures do things.
Absolutely blows my mind that a celebrant wedding in the uk isnt a legal ceremony!!! We're having one in Australia (I'm Aussie), and it's 1000% legal. Pretty sure all you need is the paperwork to be signed within an hour of the ceremony and 3 sentences to be said and boom, job done! 🙂

I love the idea of a celebrant led wedding and I’ve witnessed one in Scotland a couple of years ago and it was so gorgeous and perfect but obviously it’s legal there so no extra faff to do before/afterwards.
I’m in England and I hate the idea of having a lovely celebrant led ceremony but it all being kind of “fake” because it’s not actually showing the moment you’re getting legally married.
I know it’s not a big deal for lots of people and my fiancé is keen on the celebrant led option but I’m weirdly hesitant for some reason.
I also think it would cost more because it’s so personalised and also you’d have to do the registry office bit as well and pay a fee for that (and extra time)
This is not something I expected to feel so conflicted about 😂I always thought it was religious or non religious but it’s more than that because the price for having it at a licensed venue and in the registry office is hundreds of pounds which seems crazy to me but I don’t want to feel like my wedding ceremony is a performance, I want it to be real and for my guests to actually be watching the moment we legally become husband and wife 🤷♀️

I come from a Christian background and my fiancé not so much. To have a mix of both, we are debating between a civil ceremony or celebrant first, followed by a wedding blessing in a church on the same day where we can pick our hymns and readings. Not your usual approach but we think it works for us 😀 Thanks for your video.
