Thanks for watching this video! Do you feel like choosing your photographer will now be easier?
Is it rude to ask to see all the photos? And pic out which ones are edited rather than let them choose which ones to edit?
Great tips thank you 😊 have downloaded this video so can watch with my Fiancé.
Visiting the wedding location is completely unnecessary for a good wedding photographer. Begin looking at the portfolio, if you like the style, make an appointment.
This was so helpful! Thank you so much
This video was very helpful thank you… I literally had no idea the couple do not always have rights to their wedding photos! – will definitely be asking that question xx
Really helpful
Great content
Thanks a bunch for the help! I’m the groom in the situation, but I’m glad to go into my meeting more prepared. Thanks again!
Great video!! I've been loving your content. Thank you xx
I am very curious what photographers use SIM cards
Also: if you need to ask your photog if he has insurance and backup gear, you hired an amateur. These are things EVERY professional puts on their website. Also: avoid the stuck up snobs that call their price "your investment" and don't even mention the amount. You're hiring someone to come take pictures. Not Rembrandt to do the dining room wall for you. Beware of the snobs, the arrogant dickheads and the wanna-be's.
This is absolute informative
Almost half of the things are new to me. Thank you
Hi Lauren I came across this video on my YouTube feed. My wife and I are wedding photographers and are doing all of what you’re suggesting couples should ask.
This is great advice for any couples planning their future wedding day.
This was very informative! Thank you so much!
I had no idea to ask about the rights of the photos, nice tip, thank you for including it!
1. Style of photography (candid documentary, traditional/posed, natural light)
2. Look at their portfolio to see their style/editing
3. Does the photographer offer an engagement shoot? (Photos for invitation/save the dates BUT an opportunity to work before the wedding day and get to know how they work)
4. Look through their body of work. (Instagram/social media)
5. Has the photographer that you’re interested in worked at the venue that you’re getting married at? (would they be willing to do a site visit before the wedding day?)
6. Do they have insurance and back up in case something fails?
7. How long will they be working for on the day? (5 to 8 hrs is common. Arrive as you’re getting ready and leave after the first dance)
8. It’s nice to provide food but a lot require a HOT meal in their contract.
9. Will they have a second shooter on the day and are they included in the fee? If you want an extra shooter can they add one?
10. Do they need you to put together a shot list? (A list of who you want photograph together)
11. How will you receive your photographs? (USB stick, CD, online portal to access them, JPEG)
12. Is an album included?
13. Does your photographer edit photos?
14. Who has the rights to the photos? (Personally only work with the ones that offer you the rights so you can print as many as you want for any reason)
Love the video wish you had a 1-10 list in the description so my lazy ass didn't have to grab a pen and paper haha
Thank you this was a huge help!
Love the tips
Thank you for the great advice! Please can you make a video on what to ask the videographer? Xoxo
Hello Lauren, we're wedding photographer's in Scotland and loved this video.
what is the etiquette around family/friends who are v good amateur photographers and you’d like them to take a few documentary style snaps on the big day as well as a professional? Would it put a lot of professional photographers “noses out of joint”? Is it rude or common place? Thanks as ever for the fab advice xx
Love the tip about Pinterest! And the Engagement shoot – interesting – so much good advice. Thanks Bluebird Creative! Xx
Thank you Lauren, I will definitely make sure to ask these questions before booking my wedding photographer!
