I do enjoy your explanation of when to wear a morning coat, but by the same token I must take issue I feel that anytime you want to wear one is the correct time to wear one, for example, I had a morning coat made up in a brown tweed I wear it over a brown sweater it looks great ! I have a light gray morning coat worn over a red sweater vest it is marvelous ! I could go on as to there versatility but at this point you are either with me or not. A fine piece of male apparel, why confine it to " special occasions" ? Style is the ultimate objective. Let us be BOLD !!

Worst choice of tie ever!
It's strange, Americans were still wearing the morning coat or morning suit to weddings and presidential events until the mid-1980s and then suddenly it was as though they'd never seen it before. Oh and Tuxedo has never been a name for the morning coat, it's intended for black tie evening wear only.
