Why Wedding Vendors Won't Discount + The Right Way to Negotiate

Ever wondered why wedding vendors would say no to discounting their work? If you’ve heard from someone that you should ask for discounts, here’s why you probably shouldn’t do that and what you can do if you aren’t quite in budget for the vendor you want to hire.

OH MY WORD, THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS… I so wish people would realize we don't just work that one day and it is done. They throw out the word "SIMPLE" like it is nothing, when they have no idea that the word simple required weeks and weeks and working to midnight and back up again at 4 am work, all before the day of the wedding. You don't go to a steak house where they serve Kobe beef and ask for a discount because after all it is just a cow and expect to get the same at the Outback Steakhouse. As a florist, you would not believe the amount of people that haggle with me like they are at a flea market, because in their minds it is "simple and just flowers". My thought is if it were so simple you would not be contacting me. I can't bake therefore, I need the knowledge and skill of someone that does, this is why I call them. Just like a surgeon who spends years and years and sacrifices so much of their time to learn their trade to become a professional in their field, we do the exact same thing and should not be treated with less respect for our profession and skills.

Here is the issue I have with "Big time" wedding photographers. You are all robbing people in my opinion. Most of the packages are overpriced and everything is digital now. To tell people not to get something they simply can not afford is really snarky. Everyone should be able to have a nice wedding with some nice photos taken. I have come across many photographers who have stated they will not photograph my wedding because It is small it not worth the time to put into it. Every wedding is different and because my wedding is not like Kim Kardashians, I can not have nice photos taken because everyone is overpriced? It should not cost 6,000$ for wedding photos that are digital for 4 hours of my wedding day when my actual wedding, flowers, food, and everything else costs that amount.

Hi. Thank you for the video, I think it's really great and couples forget that you are running a business and its not just a hobby.
I've heard that it's important to have an idea of the type of pictures you want and discuss with your vendor. I made my list and I have about 68 must have pictures. I think it's silly to expect a person to remember all that. How do I create a realistic idea of the kind of pictures I want that gives the photographer just enough information to capture the desired pictures. Also, how do I weigh photography vs videography on a small budget, any pros and cons of both options?
Thanks
